Greetings from Tim Buckley

Later this year, the Coen Brothers will dive into the 60's folk music scene in Greenwich Village through their film Inside Llewyn Davis starring Oscar Isaac, Carey Mulligan and Justin Timberlake. But before that, director Dan Algrant will go back to the 90s in Greetings from Tim Buckley to follow the path of musician Jeff Buckley as he comes to terms with the legacy of his father, living in the famous folk musician's shadow and discovering his own voice, literally and figuratively. Penn Badgley plays the young Buckley with Imogen Poots as an intriguing young woman who influences his life and career. The trailer gives a taste of the soundtrack and impressive performances, and it looks like a decent enough drama. Watch it!

Here's the first trailer for Dan Algrant's Greetings from Tim Buckley, originally from Apple:

Greetings from Tim Buckley tells the true story of the days leading up to Jeff Buckley’s (Penn Badgley) 1991 performance at his father’s tribute concert in St. Ann’s Church. Through a romance with a young woman (Imogen Poots) working at the concert, the younger Buckley comes to understand the father who abandoned him. The musician's cathartic performance of his father’s most famous songs results in a stunning performance which launches his career as one of the greatest young musicians of his time. Daniel Algrant (People I Know) directed the film which played at TIFF 2012 and arrives in limited theaters on May 3rd.
