Just this past February, we got word that Charlize Theron would replace Amy Adams in the gestating adaptation of Gillian Flynn's Dark Places, a thriller that follows a young Kansas girl named Libby who witnesses the massacre of her mother and sister, testifies against her brother as the murderer, and is visited 25 years later by a secret society called the Kill Club that claims her brother is innocent. Reliving the traumatic incident is the only way to be sure of what happened, but by retracing her steps, Libby again finds herself being chased by a killer. Now Theron has her first co-star as Deadline reports Chloe Moretz is in talks to join the film as a character named Diondra, though we're not sure how she fits in the story. Read on!
Moretz has been busy this year with another guest appearance on the final season of "30 Rock," not to mention three big screen roles in Movie 43 and the forthcoming Kick-Ass 2 and also the remake of Carrie (with a new trailer coming later this week). She's a welcome addition to any cast, and is blossoming from a fine young child actress to a very talented young woman. French director Gilles Paquet-Brenner (Sarah's Key) will be directing her this time around with Theron also producing by way of her Denver and Delilah Productions banner. The book is only a few years old, and Flynn is obviously still a popular author since her book Gone Girl just recently caught the eye of Fight Club and The Social Network director David Fincher for his potential next project, so this should be a solid thriller.
